Major Tornado Outbreaks โ Central Kentucky
On May 16, 2025 a tornado with 170 mph peak winds killed 19 people in central Kentucky. Two weeks later on May 30, an EF-2 tornado struck Washington County, killing one and injuring six. While both events struck south of Louisville, the same storm systems brought damaging winds and hail across Nelson, Hardin, and Breckinridge counties.
